Mark Ogden barn - MarkLinton

I moved to So. VT from Rhode Island in 1973 to building a vacation cottage for a family member. I realized I was more country mouse than city mouse and my move became permanent.

I lived in the West River Valley and spent a most of my time working and playing in the small towns in Windham County. I obtained my real estate salesperson license in 1980 and in between I did some carpentry, bartending and a little laser optics.

In 1987 I obtained my real estate brokers license and managed offices for a couple of real estate firms before opening my own office in 1998.

I worked in a vacation home market and structured my business around a computer and direct mail to the non-resident Vermont property owners using grand lists from many of the towns in Windham County. I’m very familiar with Grand Lists and how to negotiate my way around them.

In 2009 I made two major changes. I closed my real estate office, moved to Newport and picked up my camera full time, operating a photography studio on East Main Street for the last 10 years.

My photography work has since morphed from the studio settings to location photography; real estate, product, weddings and outdoor portraiture, so in May of this year I closed the studio and move the operation to my home.

I spent several years as the Deputy Health Office in Townshend, VT and 5 years on the Townshend Volunteer Fire Department. During my time with the Realtors I served in a number of positions including local board president, state director, state and local MLS committee chair and too many committees to mention.

After working alone for the past ten years I am looking for a position that will get me engaged with the outside world again. The Derby Lister position seems like a very good fit.

I have two daughters, one in So. Vt and on in Florida, 5 grandchildren, youngest is 8 and I photographed the wedding of the oldest a couple of weeks ago.

I have been a resident of Derby for 6+ years and live across from Modern Hair Design on Rt. 111.
